Study of the functioning of the Ecodesign Directive

A draft report of the independant study on the functioning of the Ecodesign Directive was submitted in December 2011. Final report is expected in February 2012.

The study, commissioned to CSES (the Centre for Strategy and Evaluation Services), will evaluate the overall functioning of the policy and make recommendations for the 2012 review.

The evaluation aims to examine the following issues :

  • The Directive's effectiveness and utility.
  • The Directive's development procedures, results and impacts of implementation.
  • The existing barriers and obstacles to optimal application.
  • Actions that may need to be taken to eliminate these barriers
  • The usefulness of an extension of the scope beyond energy-related products.

If an extension is considered appropriate, the study will provide recommendations on additional products.

CSES has launched an online survey to receive information and feedback from stakeholders. Anyone can register at the study web site.
