Lot 25: Non-tertiary coffee machinesOn 16 November 2011 Consultation Forum was held on domestic coffee machines. The Working Documents include three proposals for measures: Electrity only, electricity and consumables and no action. The proposals can be summarized as follows: Proposal 1 “Electricity only”This proposal is based on the latest proposition by industry and the draft industry standard IEC. The requirements include:
Labelling and ecodesign requirements from 2014 and 2015 are specified in Annexes I and II of the proposal. Proposal 2: “Electricity and consumables”This proposal applies a holistic approach on consumables usage. It is based on the findings of the preparatory study as a possible response to some stakeholders' requests. The aim is to provide information of the total energy use of coffee drinking during one year. The label rating is based on test cycle and calculated annual energy consumption for electricity consumption and indirect energy requirement for production of coffee and filters/pads/capsules. Labelling and ecodesign requirements (from 2014, 2016 and 2018) are specified in Annexes II and III of the proposal. Proposal 3: “No action”This proposal only takes into account the horizontal regulation on standby for household appliances (see lot 6) and contains no ecodesign or labelling requirements. ScopeThe first two proposals cover (if not specifically excluded) domestic coffee machines such as:
Exceptions are non-domestic and non-electric coffee machines and EU niche markets.
