ENTR Lot 1:Refrigerating and freezing equipment: service cabinets, walk-in cold rooms, chillers, ice makers, ice cream and milk-shake machines
Consultation Forum for commercial refrigerating appliances will be held on 19 January 2012. Five different regulations have been proposed to meet the different technical characteristics and market operators for these products. This product group includes professional refrigerated cabinets, blast cabinets, walk-in cold rooms up to 400m3, refrigeration process chillers and remote condensing units. The regulations are estimated to make possible annual savings of 28.6 TWh by 2020, by limiting further growth in energy use. A reduction of energy consumption in the range of 10 to 20% is expected to be achieved with the implementation of existing technologies, for example:
Minimum energy efficiency requirements and product information requirements are proposed for products in this lot. Energy labelling has been proposed for professional refrigerated cabinets. As for the other product categories, comparable information on energy efficiency are proposed to be provided through product information requirements based on harmonised standards.
