UCL seeks Research AssociateDue Date: 19 February 2012 The UCL Energy Institute is seeking to appoint a Research Associate to work in energy systems projects funded through the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC), and a range of complementary projects. The successful candidate’s tasks would include one or several of the following topics, depending on experience and aptitude: specifying in greater detail the industrial sector in the UK MARKAL model; undertaking stylised modelling of technological change; constructing a TIMES energy system model for Europe; and analysing the potential evolution of hydrogen based energy supply vectors. The post is initially funded for 2 years. The ideal candidate for the post is a quantitative, analytical person with prior experience in or an outstanding aptitude for energy modelling, for quantitative analysis and for producing high quality research to challenging deadlines. A postgraduate degree in mathematics, engineering, economics, operations research or related quantitative field is required in addition to along with the ability to think laterally and integrate knowledge from different disciplines and a keen interest in the possible evolution of the UK energy system in ways that reduce carbon emissions and increase energy security.
