The lowdown on low and zero energy buildings

(11 Sep 09) eceee published today a discussion paper which considers the issues around low/zero energy buildings. The report is part of the eceee's Steering through the maze series that is to help the reader follow some of the issues relating to the approval of the proposed recast of the EPBD.

eceee published today a discussion paper which considers the issues around low/zero energy buildings.  It starts with a brief discussion of the terminology in use to describe low/zero energy buildings, considers whether the Industry Committee’s ambition is achievable, and reviews the progress of different countries towards improved energy performance of buildings.  Finally, a set of appendices provides further information including a selective literature review and extracts from relevant documents.

The report is part of the eceee’s Steering Through the Maze series that is to help the reader follow some of the issues relating to the approval of the proposed recast of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.

This report is to help in the discussions currently underway within Council and the European Parliament on approving the proposed recast.  The report will be updated periodically as more information and updates become available.
