eceee 2013 Summer Study
Our societies face massive challenges: The climate threat is acute and the window of opportunity for changing direction is closing rapidly. The global financial crisis just seems to continue, and Europe is hardly close to sustainable energy security. Energy efficiency is by no means the only answer to our challenges, but it can take us a long way. Cutting energy demand helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions in a more cost-effective way than any other energy policy. Massive investments in energy efficiency can contribute to getting people all around Europe back to work. And cutting energy demand will make Europe more resilient and more productive.
Rethink, Renew, Restart
After 20 years of successful traditional Summer Studies, eceee has now introduced a new series of events, focusing on energy efficiency in industry and industrial processes. The first industrial eceee Summer Study was held in September 2012.
The eceee industrial Summer Study covered all types of industry, from production and food processing to heavy process industry. The eceee industrial Summer Study was held over three and a half days and attracted industry, energy service companies, policymakers, academia, NGOs and other professionals in energy efficiency. They met in the stimulating informal setting that is the trademark of eceee’s Summer Studies.

What is a Summer Study?
Since 1993, eceee's Summer Studies have advanced the frontiers in energy efficiency policy, research and implementation.
It provides a full working week of formal but yet straightforward sessions and informal meetings, wonderful climate and pleasant surroundings. Here, participants exchanged ideas in a relaxed but intensely intellectual atmosphere, had lively discussions and came up with creative ideas.
The heart of the Summer Study is the presentation and discussion of refereed papers in parallel panel sessions. Posters are presented in a session attended by all participants. Keynote speakers address plenary sessions and participants can organise informal sessions in the afternoons.
Participants value our events highly
