Energy independence increasingly important to Germans

(Clean Energy Wire, 14 Feb 2019) Independence from oil and gas imports is an important goal of the energy transition, according 86 percent of Germans responding to a recent representative survey commissioned by heating company Stiebel Eltron.

That’s a 10 percentage point increase compared to 2018, according to a press release. 91 percent said saving CO₂ to protect the climate was an important goal, and 81 percent said the same of giving up coal. Two thirds of respondents said they fully or somewhat agreed that Germany has made good progress on the energy transition to date, Stiebel Eltron told Clean Energy Wire.
