Stakeholder webinar for the Climate Bank Roadmap 2021-2025

(20 Mar 2020) With regard to the COVID-19 virus, the EIB Group will hold a series of four online webinars, instead of the planned events in Brussels. The group welcomes interested stakeholders to accompany it in developing the Climate Bank Roadmap 2021-2025, to provide a strategic and operational framework for its activities on climate action and environmental sustainability over five years

The events cover the topics of EIB`s Climate Bank Roadmap. Paris alignment and sustainable finance, will be discussed on Monday 23 March and the last two topics, covering impact measurement and environmental sustainability and leaving no one behind, will be covered on Thursday 26 March.

In November 2019, the EIB’s Board of Directors approved a new level of ambition for the EIB towards climate action and environmental sustainability. To turn this ambition into reality, the EIB would like interested stakeholders to accompany it in developing its roadmap – the Climate Bank Roadmap 2021-2025 – that will guide this transition.

The webinars are intended to be an opportunity for interested stakeholders to voice their opinions and share their expertise with the EIB’s experts leading this transition.

The EIB’s Board of Directors also approved a new level of ambition for the EIB Group towards climate action and environmental sustainability. The three elements of this ambition are to:

  • Increase the share of EIB’s financing dedicated to climate action and environmental sustainability to reach 50% by 2025;
  • help unlock at least €1 trillion of investments dedicated to climate action and environmental sustainability from public and private partners by 2030; and
  • align all financing activities with the principles and goals of the Paris Agreement by the end of 2020.
