Summer Study goes Down Under!*

Australian Summer Study's bright prospects for energy.

We are delighted to announce the 2016 Australian Summer Study on Energy Productivity will be held in Sydney, Australia from 24 to 26 February 2016.

Following the successful 2012 and 2013 Australian Summer Studies on Energy Efficiency and the 2014 2xEP Forum on Doubling Energy Productivity, this event aims to help catalyse a smarter, cleaner and more prosperous energy future.

The Summer Study will be hosted by the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology Sydney in conjunction with the Australian Alliance to Save Energy.

The theme of this Summer Study is ‘Empower a brighter tomorrow’.  According to Co-Convenor, Chris Dunstan (Research Director at the Institute for Sustainable Futures): “The Australian economy has grown strongly in recent years, even as energy use has declined. This means more value for every unit of energy used, more jobs and lower carbon emissions. We know that a more productive, lower cost energy future is now within reach- let's grab it!"

The Summer Study will bring together hundreds of Australian and international leaders, experts and practitioners from industry, government, the research community and consumer representatives.

Drawing on the 35-year tradition of Summer Studies on Energy Efficiency in the USA and Europe, the program offers a unique, informal, fun and creative environment to:

  • Celebrate breakthroughs to boost energy productivity
  • Highlight international leadership in energy efficiency
  • Champion best practice across industry sectors
  • Brainstorm technology, market and policy innovation
  • Develop powerful ideas and strong relationships
  • Trigger effective action for a more productive economy

* Fun fact:

We don’t actually say “down under” down under (but other people seem to like it).
On the other hand, we do actually say “G’day”...
