EPEE, the European Partnership for Energy and the Environment, will organize an event “Green Products, Global Markets – How non-tariff barriers can impact global business as well as local expansion”.

Products manufactured by the HVAC-R industry, such as air conditioners, heat pumps, or chillers, are commercialised globally but are often regulated locally, nationally and sometimes regionally, as in the EU with the Ecodesign and Energy Label Regulations. These different levels of legislation oblige manufacturers to adapt their products to make them compliant for each and every market. Hence, this complex regulatory framework can sometimes be considered to be a non-tariff barrier to the local expansion of SMEs and larger actors putting standardised products on the market as part of a globalised economy.

The event aims at shedding light on the impact of the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling measures, with high-level speakers representing national and international business; NGO and institutional perspectives.

Paul Hodson (confirmed), Head of Unit “Energy Efficiency”, DG Energy, European Commission
