Since 23 years EUROSOLAR e.V. has been honoring towns, council districts, companies, associations/organizations, initiatives and private persons with the annual European Solar Prize. Pioneers and leaders are put into the focus of public attention and show how the realistic and practicable use of renewable energy is successfully possible.

Towards the end of each year, the award winners are invited to a celebratory event in a European city. Having previously been held in Rome and Prague, this year’s edition of the European Solar Prize will be awarded in Barcelona – a city committed to sustainable energy.

Together with the Spanish Section of EUROSOLAR and Barcelona City Council we would kindly like to invite you to this years’ award ceremony on Friday, 18th November in ‘Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site’ in Barcelona.

The main event will start at 12:00 noon with welcoming speeches by Prof. Peter Droege, President of EUROSOLAR, and Janet Sanz, Deputy Mayor, Barcelona City Council. Afterwards an exciting program on the topic 'Policy and vision for an energy transition' with lectures by Dr. Dörte Fouquet, Director of EREF, Becker Büttner Held, Dr. Harry Lehmann, Chairman of WCRE, Umweltbundesamt, and Fernando Ferrando Vitales, Vice President of Fundación Renovables, will be presented.

Before the presentation of the award winners in the afternoon, a panel of national and international speakers with Cristina Castells, Director of Barcelona Energy Agency, Francesc Pujol, Member of the Board, Som Energia, Dirk Vansintjan, President of REScoop.eu, Dr. Josep Puig, Vice President of EUROSOLAR, EUROSOLAR Spain, and Stephan Grüger, Member of the Hessian Parliament, Vice President of EUROSOLAR, will discuss and take a closer look at the subject 'Moving towards energy democracy'.

In the morning a guided tour to Sant Pau’s energy installations will be offered additionally to the main event, showing the sustainable buildings of the former hospital.

The participation in the event is free. English-Spanish simultaneous translation will be provided. Please find more information about the event and register for free until 9th November 2016 here or here.
