The Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia – Institute for Agriculture and Forestry Maribor – as the Lead Partner of the Green Partnerships project – Local Partnerships for Greener Cities and Regions–, has undertaken an ambitious task to improve the implementation of local public policies so as to utilize the potential of local renewable energy resources and thus improve the energy efficiency of regions and towns.

We kindly invite you to the Final Conference event of the Green Partnerships Project, to exchange experience, know-how and competences that can help local communities and territorial authorities in planning and implementing Local Energy Strategies.

At this event, partners from 11 Mediterranean cities will present the Step by Step Guide, one of the key results of the project especially developed to help implement individual projects defined in the Local Energy Strategy documents. Project partners will also share their experience and know-how used and upgraded in the implementation of Pilot Cases in every participating country.

Objectives of the project

The main objective of the project is to strengthen the implementation of local public policies and strategies related to energy efficiency for sustainable local and regional development of the MED cities and local communities by:

  • identifying optimal solutions to overcome existing obstacles and find ways for more efficiently implementing the existing measures defined by energy efficiency strategies in local communities on the basis of analysis of existing solutions (including definition of quality requirements, energy management schemes, administrative barriers), which will result in energy savings up to 40 % in public facilities;
  • improving knowledge and competences for better energy management in local public administrations (cities and municipalities) concerning standards, quality requirements and technical aspects, and establish mechanisms for transfer of knowledge and experience within local communities, between participating partners and beyond;
  • mobilizing and consult final users and increase cooperation with stakeholders by establishing local partnerships, forming a new integrative approach to energy efficiency in local communities, ensuring wide support and consensus for the implementation of local energy strategies as well as adequate and efficient use of available technologies.

Green Partnerships is an EU project co-funded under the Interreg B: Transnational programme, MED (Mediterranean) region.

Countries involved: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Catalonia, Cyprus, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Portugal, Slovenia.
