In the context of the future EU framework programme for research and innovation “Horizon 2020”, the Energy Efficient Buildings Association (E2BA) and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) are jointly organising a conference on “Energy Efficient Buildings and Districts: Research to Accelerate Innovation”. The event will take place at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) premises in Brussels, on May 15th, 16:00 – 18:00 (room: JDE62) and will be followed by a networking cocktail.

The Energy Efficient Buildings Association (E2BA) is promoting an industry driven research, demonstration and innovation (RDI) programme for Energy-efficient buildings and districts, with the ambitious vision that all European buildings and districts will be designed, built or renovated to high energy efficiency standards by 2050. Its 150 members come from Industry, Research Organisations, SMEs, Public Promoters and Agencies. E2BA is currently developing a new Roadmap for RDI priorities in the energy efficient built environment field for the period 2014-2020 and beyond.

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society within the EU institutional framework. Its 344 members belong to economic, social and civic organisations in the 27 Member States. The EESC has worked extensively on energy efficiency matters, both by issuing opinions on all major EU policy proposals and by distributing hands-on tools such as "Let's speak sustainable construction!", a multilingual glossary with nearly 300 terms and concepts of energy-efficient building.

We would be delighted to welcome you to this event. Please find the draft agenda as well as the registration form, which you are requested to return by 7 May 2012 at the latest to the address EnergyBuildings@eesc.europa.eu.
