31 January 2019, 4 PM – 5 PM CET

Energy efficiency is modernising, and the IEA will be exploring in detail the potential impacts of digitalisation on energy efficiency, and implications for policy makers. We will look at how digital technologies enable greater control, optimisation and analytics, and how this in turn enables greater end-use and systems efficiency, especially when combined with the right policy frameworks and innovative business models.

A topic of fast-growing interest to IEA member countries and partners, the IEA has embarked on a cross-agency initiative – Modernising Energy Efficiency through Digitalization, and we have organised a series of thematic events in 2019 to facilitate stakeholder engagement and exchange of best practices.

Our first event is a webinar in which Brian Motherway, Head of the IEA’s Energy Efficiency Division, will launch our new initiative and introduce our first guest speaker, David Nemtzow, Director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office, who will present on the Grid-interactive Efficient Buildings Program. We are grateful that David has agreed to help kick-off this webinar series, as his team has been doing great work demonstrating the value energy efficient buildings can play in delivering significant, cost-effective grid resources.
