The Local Renewables Conference 2018, taking place in Freiburg, Germany and Basel, Switzerland from 24 - 26 October 2018, will discuss how to develop local and regional strategies to manage the transformation from a linear to a circular economy, the opportunities and limitations of sector integration, as well as financing mechanisms, and the role of social innovation and citizen engagement.
The conference will put particular emphasis on the importance of putting cities and regions at the centre in making energy more secure, affordable and sustainable, and on the growing need to transform from a linear to a circular economy to take full advantage of renewable resources.
The 9th edition of the conference series will examine the collaboration with local stakeholders, the value of technological innovations and how to identify sources of financing local action. This represents a valuable opportunity for policy-makers, representatives from European institutions, energy service providers, experts and other interested professionals to share their views and knowledge on how to manage the transformation to a circular economy and improve energy efficiency while creating opportunities for the local economy.
Organised by the City of Freiburg, the City of Basel, and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, the conference will be interactive and engaging, featuring an interesting variety of panels, topic-specific workshops and study tours in Freiburg and Basel. This event is part of a conference series launched in 2007 and explores the different sources of local renewable solutions in order to promote sustainability at a regional and local level.
Join us and explore how cities and regions can embrace clean, sustainable solutions, and tackle financial, planning and regulatory challenges.
