The conference on residential energy efficiency in Eastern Europe is organised by Habitat for Humanity International and USAID and will take place in Brussels on 24-25 April. The second day of the conference will take place in the European Parliament hosted by Tamas Meszerics, MEP.

The problems of inefficient energy use, high energy prices and energy poverty have consistently struck housing markets in Central and Eastern Europe. The conference will seek to promote a better understanding of residential energy efficiency among EU policy makers: introduce improved and tailor-made EU level policy measures addressing energy poverty and security and advance a clearer understanding  of how investing into residential energy efficiency will contribute to reducing energy poverty in the eastern European region. The conference will bring together a network of practitions from the public, private and NGO sectors as well as policy makers from Europe to discuss and share lessons, present project results and recommendations as well as adopt common approaches on addressing the issue of energy poverty and residential energy efficiency in Eastern Europe, also building on the experience of the residential Energy Efficiency for Low Income Households (REELH) Project.
