In June 2011 the important international standard, ISO 50001 Energy Management was published. Already there is evidence of a strong uptake; organisations already certified, others commencing the implementation process and those certified to a previous standard transitioning very successfully.

Clearly, energy policy, national support programmes, the experiences of an energy services market and other interventions will have a great influence on the uptake and efficacy of Energy Management Systems. Continual improvement of energy performance along with continual improvement of the EnMS itself is a requirement to guarantee long-term energy savings.

Building on the success of the first international conference in 2009 at Farmleigh, Dublin, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, SEAI, is delighted to host a second international conference and Poster Exhibition on Friday 27th April at The Mansion House, Dublin.

The event will be a unique opportunity to hear strategies from international experts on creating the right incentives, the most effective policies, in short the best environment to help businesses around the world commit to and benefit from energy management systems.

The conference will be of interest to: Policy advisors, Energy agencies, Certification bodies, Accreditation bodies, Energy intensive users, Energy service companies, Energy consultants, Business consultants, Higher education institutions.

SYNERGY WITH OTHER POLICY MEASURES
Senior policy makers with quite different strategic approaches will reflect on how the new standard will sit with existing measures.

LONG-TERM STRATEGY TO DEVELOP CAPABILITY AND IMPACT
This session will examine some new and potentially transformative programmatic approaches that will maximise the contribution that energy management programmes and ISO 50001 can deliver. Speakers will draw on the latest developments worldwide to consider the long term impacts of the standard.
