Accelerating the use of efficient appliances and equipment such as lighting, air conditioners, refrigerators, electric motors or transformers is critical for improving energy efficiency globally. The EU’s Ecodesign and Energy Labeling directives are a successful example of how to achieve this. Efficiency has been identified as a focus area to achieve the goals of the UN Secretary General’s Sustainable Energy for All Initiative.

This event will present international best practices to accelerate action for the development of policies and regulation to ensure the transition to efficient appliances and equipment in developing and emerging economies.

The event will discuss how a new public-private partnership can make a global transition to efficient appliances and equipment happen.

Presenters include:

  • Zitouni Ould-Dada, Head Technology Unit, United Nations Environment Programme
