- Frankfurt/Main, Germany
- Focus Areas:
- Wind integration
- Type of Event:

The Frankfurt Wind Integration Symposium is conceived as a flexible platform to discuss selected topics within a group of experts without going into a lengthy academic paper submission and selection process. A program committee of representatives from TSOs and wind turbine manufactures identifies the topics which are currrently relevant for a better evaluation of the impact of increasing wind penetration on power systems.
The 1st Wind Integration Symposium in June 2011 gathered about 100 wind integration experts from Germany, Europe and overseas around the main topic "Simulation Models of Wind Power Plants and their Use in System Wide Power System Analysis Studies in Europe".
This year, the Wind Integration Symposium will focus on Integration of renewables - High penetration issues: Understanding and managing the changing power system dynamics with high level of Non Synchronous Generation.
The presentations will come from TSOs and wind turbine manufactures and we hope to get a vivid discussion during the symposium.
The 5 symposium sessions are:
- Session 1: Experiences and challenges for TSOs/DSOs associated with high penetration of renewables Analysis of Experiences of Power System technical challenges for countries with high instantaneous penetration of non-synchronous plant.
- Session Chair: Thomas Ackermann (Energynautics GmbH, Germany)
- Session 2: Analysis of associated challenges of high penetration
- Session Chair: TBA
- Session 3: Principle solutions to high penetration challenges
- Session Chair: Frans van Hulle (EWEA, Belgium)
- Session 4: Modelling challenges for investigation of high penetration challenges
- Session Chair: Helge Urdal (National Grid, United Kingdom)
- Session 5: Panel Session
The detailed programm is outlined on the symposium's website
