About the event

The coronavirus COVID-19 continues to drastically change the conditions for the energy intensive industries to transition towards net-zero emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. In light of the ongoing crisis, our half-day workshop will bring together experts from academia, industry, policy and society to discuss how deep decarbonisation in industry can be facilitated under these new and uncertain circumstances. The workshop is arranged as a pre-conference event to the Industrial Efficency 2020 digital conference to be held 14–17 September.

The interactive morning was divided into two main sessions:

The first part featured a high-level discussion between distinguished panelists, who presented their take on the challenges and opportunities that these industries are currently facing.

The second part of the workshop featured brainstorming sessions and networking with other experts in the field. Participants exchanged ideas on current topics in various thematic breakout rooms covering both technological, economic and policy aspects of industrial decarbonisation.

The workshop was a joint initiative between eceee and the RENEW-industry network and it organised as an eceee Industrial Efficiency 2020 pre-conference event.

The Research Network on Industrial Decarbonisation is primarily intended as a network for scientific researchers in academia and research institutes, focusing on Industrial Decarbonisation. The network will be an informal and interactive forum for researchers involved in the field of industrial decarbonisation, to exchange knowledge and ideas, identify opportunities for cooperation around project proposals and events.
