Broadening the scope beyond efficiency

Jean-Luc Favre Paul Hodson Ulrich von Weizsäcker

Regardless of the end-use sector, energy efficiency is key to productivity, energy security, job creation and lower carbon intensity. The low-carbon energy transition will not succeed without such improvements. Improved energy efficiency also helps reduce non-energy costs associated with maintenance, production stand still and insurance fees. And importantly this will have positive employment benefits throughout the economy.

  • Panel leaders: summing up the five panels
  • Jean-Luc Favre, the Union of Geneva Employers Associations. The industry challenges
  • Paul Hodson, Europan Commission Energy Efficiency Unit. European policies looking beyond energy efficiency
  • Ernst von Weizsäcker, Club of Rome. Come On! The Club of Rome is back in the arena
