Energy efficieny cluster audits and energy performance contracting projects in Bursa

Abstract

ENERVIS is one of group companies of EWE Turkey Holding A.S., which is the representative of German energy giant EWE AG in Turkey. The core competencies of Enervis are providing detailed audit and implementation services to industries and buildings, ISO 50001 consultancy service, consultancy and implementation services to municipalities. All these activities are led by our experienced technical staff and unique business models. Transferring German know-how to Turkish energy efficiency market is another important mission of us. Enervis is an unique ESCO in Turkey which leads energy efficiency audits with EWE AG's 360° Energy Audit Model. As an example, The "Energy Efficiency Cluster Projects" which are the most comprehensive energy efficiency projects in Turkey so far, have been completed in Bursa Organized Industry Zone (BOIZ) and Bursa Demirtaş Organized Industry Zone (DOIZ). The projects were consisted of detailed energy audits in 31 industrial companies from textile, automotive and metal sectors. Enervis and EWE AG made a excellent collaboration and know how transfer for the project. In total, 191 possible projects, an average energy saving ratio of %20, an annual saving potential of 3.5 million Euro and a CO2 reduction potential of 28,600 tons per year have been identified. These are role model projects which increased the public awareness in Turkey. Moreover, these are important steps to decrease the carbon emissions of Turkey in terms of Paris COP 21 Climate Summit 2015. On the other hand, Enervis has realised an energy efficiency implementation project in which Energy Performace Contracting (EPC) model was professionally used. EPC model has not been widely known in Turkey yet. As a leading market player, Enervis developed a unique EPC model fitting to the Tukish business conditions which is called "enervay" (Energy Efficiency Improvement Investments). A "Waste Water Heat Recovery" system has been implemented for one of the biggest and oldest textile companies in Bursa. Enervis implemented the project as turnkey. Measurement, Analysis, Projecting, System and Equipment Procurement and Implementation phases were realized by Enervis project team. The performance guarantee of the system was given and was mentioned in the contract. The project investment has been financed by Enervis. After the commissioning, the client has started to pay back in line with the monthly energy saving achieved by the project.

The system recovers the heat of waste process water and process cooling water. The real saving amount is considerably higher than what's promised to the client. The payback of the project is only 7 months. The annual saving amount is 6.9 million kWh which approximately equals to 200,000 Euro. Thanks to this energy efficiency project, the company contributed to a CO2 emission reduction with 1,287 tons per year which is equal to effect of 3,864 trees. Another energy efficiency implementation project has been completed with enervay model too. The pressured air system of a textile company has been renovated and optimised with appropriate energy efficiency solutions. The air pressure decrease of some of the processes, the revision of pipelines and pressured air leakages and optimisation of air compressors are the main topics of the project. Also, energy monitoring system has been installed in order to monitor the energy consumption. The annual saving amount is 2 million kWh which approximately equals to 130,000 Euro. Thanks to this energy efficiency project, the company contributed to a CO2 emission reduction with 925 tons per year which is equal to effect of 2,775 trees.
