ENERGee Watch

Public authorities have varying levels of knowledge, skills, and capacity for sustainable energy solutions; from planning to financing and successful implementation. Data collection, defining monitoring indicators, interpreting collected data are all present obstacles to successful MRV implementation on the local level. Horizon 2020 Project ENERGee WATCH, coordinated by IEECP, aims to launch a peer to peer learning program to enable regional and local authorities to timely and accurately define, monitor and verify their sustainable actions.

To offer a targeted programme to local, regional authorities and their agencies, the Energee Watch learning programme will offer three learning cycles, with each consisting of four modules to choose from:

  1. Data collection
  2. Monitoring and verification
  3. Indicators for adaptation to climate change
  4. Data display, dissemination and validation by local authorities

The project stems from the existing informal European network of regional greenhouse gas observatories managed by FEDARENE whose mission is to collect, monitor, report Greenhouse gas (GHG)Emissions and implement energy saving strategies and policies. They currently have 20 members from 11 European countries who will all, among others, benefit from our project.

The added value of the ENERGee WATCH project is that it brings this already existing informal network to a higher level with achieving longer term sustainable energy goals through capacity building.
