In a renewable energy system, storage is needed to secure a stable supply of energy. Energy storage technologies are a crucial factor in integrating the growing amount of renewable energy efficiently and affordably. Simultaneously, energy storage increases the acceptance of the energy transition by strengthening the local and regional usage, replacing grid expansion and supporting intersectoral coupling. Despite undisputed advantages of storage technologies, barriers for a successful and extensive implementation in Germany and Europe still remain. Besides the regulatory framework conditions and high cost, energy storage is in competition with other flexibility options.

From 14 till 16 March 2017, participants of the 11th International Renewable Energy Storage Conference (IRES 2017) and the 6th Energy Storage Europe (ESE) will get an all-round insight into the development of storage technologies and their political, legal and economical framework conditions.

The Conference Program: Take a first look
The combined program allows visitors to chose from a wide range of presentations and discussion rounds. At the IRES-conference storage for renewable energy is discussed from a scientific point of view. Energy Storage Europe (ESE) focuses on economic and financial topics. In total, six parallel sessions, more than 100 posters and the expo with more than 180 exhibitors build the program for the expected 3500 participants from over 50 countries. The first insight into the program is now available here.

This way, visitors are able to follow presentations in all parallel sessions and visit the exhibition without purchasing separate tickets. Alongside the conference and the exhibition, there will be two networking parties on the first and second evening of the event. This offers the opportunity to continue discussions and establish new contacts. Early Bird Tickets are available now!

Poster Exhibition: Join the IRES-conference as a presenter
The poster exhibition is a signature program component of the IRES. Researchers from all over the world present their work and findings on a poster and show how their ideas influence the storage world. The submission of abstracts for the presentation of a poster at the 11th International Renewable Energy Storage Conference (IRES 2017) is possible until 1 February. Abstracts for posters can be submitted online. Further information about the topics can be found in the Call for Abstracts and in the online submission tool ConfTool.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Düsseldorf!
